Visitors to the Greater Palm Springs area are always amazed at all the activities that await. Here is a sampling of activities near La Quinta.

The legendary La Quinta Resort and Club is minutes away, offering fabulous restaurants, gardens, tennis, spa, and shopping in a spectacular setting blending the best of old and new California. The resort was built in 1926 and served as a retreat for many Hollywood stars.  It is now part of the Waldorf Astoria hotel collection.

For racquets enthusiasts, there are many options.

- La Quinta Resort has 23 tennis courts (16 hard and 5 Har-Tru) and 8 pickleball courts open to the public.

- The Indian Wells Tennis Garden, aka "Tennis Paradise", is a fabulous facility and club with numerous programs and 29 courts and truly amazing views. This is where the pros play the BNP Paribas Open every March, and it is open to the public most of the year. They even offer short term membership options

- JW Marriott Resort in Palm Desert has grass courts.

The Greater Palm Springs area has over 100 golf courses! Just down the street from the home is PGA West – the “Western Home of Golf in America”, with 9 iconic courses (4 private and 5 public).

For hikers, very close by is La Quinta Cove, offering one of Sunset Magazine’s “Best Hikes in the West”. Other options include the incredible Indian Canyons and Tahquiz Canyon hikes in Palm Springs, or ride the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway for spectacular views and hikes (often in the snow!). The surreal landscapes of Joshua Tree are an easy day trip.

Proximity to LA means there’s no shortage of great shopping -- from El Paseo in Palm Desert (“Rodeo Drive of the Desert”), to the boutiques at La Quinta Resort or Old Town La Quinta, to the amazing design and clothing stores in Palm Springs, including the Trina Turk flagship store. And just over an hour away lies the Desert Hills Premium Outlets, California’s largest premium outlet destination, with 180 designer stores, including Tory Burch, Burberry, and Gucci.

For those seeking a culture fix, don’t miss the Sunnylands Estate, Walter Annenberg's former home which serves as the “Western White House”. In Palm Springs you can find Modernism architecture tours, or check out the Palm Springs Art Museum or the Palm Springs Air Museum. You can also find fun events and shows at Acrisure Arena and the McCallum Theatre.
